COVID-19 HEALTH SECURITY RULES AND MEASURES

To ensure the well-being and safety of our travelers during their stay and in accordance with the standards, measures and biosafety protocols of the Peruvian government RM-112 (8.6.11, 8.7.1, 8.7.2) – 113 (8.3), RM -448, PERU PATH/ INCAS CITY informs you about the measures implemented to respond to the Covid-19 health crisis and thus guarantee the safety of our clients.

That is why our team is committed to the following measures:

  • Use of a mandatory mask in Peru in public areas and at all times.

If you are wearing a reusable (cloth) mask, it is recommended that it be washed daily after each use.

If you use disposable masks, dispose them in the appropriate places (garbage cans). Depending on the activities you have booked (cooking lessons, for example), other personal protective equipment (gloves, face shield, etc.) may be required. Your agent will give you the necessary information if necessary.

  • Taking body temperature

Your body temperature can be taken at any time during your stay. It is usually done when entering a hotel or tourist site. Your guide will also be allowed to take your temperature at the start and end of a tour and at any time if you have symptoms. Your temperature will be reported if it exceeds 38°C. Please note: if your temperature exceeds 38°C, your entry may be refused.

  • Disinfection of footwear and personal items during your stay

you must disinfect your shoes (soles) before entering a place (at the entrance of hotels, restaurants, sites and museums, shops, etc.), before getting into a vehicle and when necessary. You may also be asked to disinfect your personal belongings and your crew (bags) before entering a hotel, from a vehicle and when necessary.

  • ​Hand washing

You will be asked to wash your hands frequently with soap and water or hand sanitizer daily (before, during and after service and as needed).

  • ​Social distancing

It will be important to respect the social security distances of at least 01 meter from other people when possible, as well as to respect the delimited spaces and avoid urbanized areas. It will also be advisable to avoid greeting your guide or any other person in a physical way, avoid shaking hands.

  • Sharing belongings

It is strongly recommended that you do not share your personal belongings with other people. Similarly, it is not recommended to share the same bottle of water, food, cutlery, glass, etc. during a meal.

  • ​Payments

It is advisable to avoid paying in cash and prioritize payments by credit / debit card (Visa, Mastercard, etc.). If you have to handle cash, wash your hands well or disinfect yourself as best you can. Therefore, we recommend that you check with your bank the limit for the use of your credit / debit card, so as not to find yourself without funds.

  • Pre-existing physical and medical conditions

When you register on the enrollment form, we will ask you to fill in if you have any pre-existing physical and/or medical conditions and if you have risk factors such as diabetes, moderate or severe asthma, lung disease, chronic kidney disease, etc. When you arrive in Peru, you will be asked to complete and sign the COVID-19 Symptom Sheet, confirming that you have not been in direct contact with a person infected with COVID-19 and do not have symptoms.

  • 15 days after your return from Peru to your country of origin

In the event that you present symptoms of COVID-19 (cough, fever, respiratory problems, sore throat) within 15 days of your return home, it will be important to inform your travel agency so that they can follow up with other people who may have been in contact with you.

  • Digital information Before, during and after your stay,

the necessary information for the proper functioning of your stay will be provided to you digitally as far as possible (by mail, whatsapp, skype, etc.) to avoid any physical contact and also in the part of our policy to reduce the use of paper.

It will be important to respect the safety instructions mentioned above, as well as to listen carefully and respect the instructions that your guide will inform you on site (in national parks, archaeological sites, and all other places of visit within your travel itinerary).

PROTOCOLS FOR VEHICLES PERU PATH /INCAS CITY

We have our own tourist transport vehicles, in which we ensure safety and cleanliness. All our vehicles are properly disinfected before, during and after the tours and trips we offer. Whenever necessary, our company rents similar vehicles that meet all the requirements of our health protocol.

The capacities of our buses have been modified to respect social distancing, in accordance with the recommendations of the Peruvian authorities.

Cleaning, all our vehicles are cleaned and disinfected before and after each use.

Each vehicle is fully ventilated before and after the tour.

The air conditioning and heating systems receive preventive maintenance in accordance with the latest sanitary regulations. Air conditioning filters are replaced periodically.

Our buses are equipped with a modern first aid kit, oxygen bottle and fire extinguisher, as well as complete repair kits for driver use.

Sanitizing shoe mats will be used each time passengers board one of our vehicles. All travelers must disinfect their footwear by standing in the footbath and checking that the entire sole of their footwear comes into contact with the solution.

Drivers and tour guides must measure and record their own temperature after each service provided. Our management team keeps track of the results of each member of our team.

At the start of each tour, our tour guide takes each traveler’s temperature using a clinical infrared thermometer. If any person has a temperature above 38°C, at the request of the Peruvian health authorities, they will be accompanied to a nearby health center to carry out the COVID-19 test.

In case of a positive result, at the request of the Peruvian health authorities, the affected person will not be able to continue with the tour, and we will help them to comply with the required quarantine period.

Drivers, at all times during services

Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); mask and protective clothing in accordance with current health standards;

Drivers will open vehicle doors for guests and maintain social distancing as passengers board our vehicles. Only the driver will open and close the doors.

Luggage loaded onto our vehicles will only be handled by our staff and by hotel staff (when necessary) who comply with sanitary protocols.

Duffel bag. When necessary, our travelers receive for use during their stay a canvas bag, properly sanitized and sealed in a plastic bag, for packing their belongings. This canvas bag becomes the responsibility of each traveler until it is returned at the end of the tour.

Baggage handling. Our bus drivers wear disposable gloves when handling luggage and when performing maintenance and sanitizing on our vehicles.

Greetings/Welcome. No PERU PATH/INCAS CITY representative, including drivers and guides, may greet guests by shaking hands.

PROTOCOLS FOR OUR TRAVELERS AND GUESTS

Guests are advised to purchase adequate travel insurance before travelling.

All guests are requested to respect social distancing rules and maintain a distance of at least 1.5 meters / 5 feet during all tours and activities.

Guests are requested to provide and wear face masks during all tours and activities.

Travelers must accept temperature readings with a clinical infrared thermometer. If an individual has a temperature above 38°C, at the request of the Peruvian health authorities, they will be accompanied to a nearby health center to perform a COVID-19 test.

Any guest exhibiting any of the symptoms associated with COVID-19 will be required to self-isolate at their hotel and agree to be tested for COVID-19 at a private health facility recommended by their agent.

All travelers must follow the recommended procedures and frequency for hand washing and/or sanitizing, before, during and after all activities, and when necessary.

PROTOCOLS FOR RESTAURANTS AND HOTELS

Restaurants and hotels will only be recommended where the appropriate sanitary protocols have been implemented.

We will work closely with restaurants to organize and reconfirm special seating arrangements designed to respect new hygiene and social distancing measures.

Buffet breakfasts and other meals will be avoided, and only table service will be offered to our guests.

PROTOCOLS FOR COMPANIES PROVIDING ADDITIONAL SERVICES

National airlines, trains, buses to Machu Picchu and Puno, boats on Lake Titicaca, ports for the Palomino Islands (Callao), Ballestas Islands (Paracas), and all air, rail, lake, maritime terminals:

All the companies we work with respect and comply with all health protocols issued by the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) and the Peruvian government.

PROTOCOLS FOR COLLABORATING COMPANIES

Travel agents working with PERU PATH/INCAS CITY must inform all travelers and guests of our current health guidelines and explain that they are designed for their own health and well-being.

To protect other travelers and our staff, travel agents should explain that guests will need to self-isolate if they exhibit symptoms of coronavirus or while awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test.

Travelers and guests should be advised not to hire porters at airports or other transportation hubs (such as bus stations) to carry their luggage. Each individual must carry their own luggage.

Guests should be provided with their flight information, tickets, itineraries, and all other information prior to departure so that we can reduce physical contact between staff and guests.
